Annual Stewardship Drive
We're at that time of year when the budget planning for the upcoming year is in full swing and we begin the process of collecting pledges during our annual Stewardship Drive in order to create the most accurate budget possible.  As a member of Trinity Downtown, you are a partner in ministry with Trinity, and your gifts of time, talent and treasure are essential to having the resources necessary to support the mission of the church. Your annual financial pledge communicates to Trinity's leadership what your financial commitment will be in the next 12 months to support Trinity's "Current & Missions" which represents our general operating budget. That information allows leadership to complete the budget planning process with all resources accounted for. Please prayerfully consider what your pledge amount will be for this coming year.

This weekend you'll hear more from Trinity Elder, Tom Finger, during worship, and you should receive a letter in the mail with a pledge form and return envelope included. Please tear off the pledge form and return it in the postage paid envelope as soon as you can.  If you do not receive a letter, and should have, please contact the office and we'll get that information to you ASAP!  ([email protected] or 407-488-1919 x101) Thank you!

From the Elected Leadership Nominating Committee

To the Congregation of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church  - Trinity Downtown:
Peace, joy and greetings in Christ Jesus our Lord!  As prescribed by our Constitution & Bylaws, the newly formed 2017-2018 Nominations Committee (NC) has been established including representatives to include the Senior Pastor, Head Elder, two Leadership Council members (LC), and at least two Congregational members a large(C)] for the purpose of recording the initiation of the 2017 Nominations Committee, and receiving and making recommendations for TLCS fiscal year 2017 - 2018 vacant elected leadership positions. The following individuals have agreed to serve on this committee:

Chair:                    Gregg Yawman (LC)
Co-Chair:              John Strandquest (LC)
Pastor:                   Vacant - Head Elder will assist
Head Elder:          Mike Kunze
Leadership:          Kathy Aber (LC)
Congregation:     Marcy Shively (C), Bill Gouveia (C)

We pray for you God's continued blessings and for the spiritual well-being and physical health of you and your families.  We encourage you to be vigilantly and prayerfully considering two very important things; 1) the Holy Spirit's guidance and calling regarding the Congregation's recommendations for godly, hardworking and committed members to fill each open position, and 2)  the opening of the same hearts and minds by God's call to joyfully accept and to serve. This would naturally also include your prayers concerning your own potential consideration for serving in one of these positions. (Matthew 9:35-38 - "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.")

Jesus Himself reminds us of the importance of service in Mark 10:45, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." He also gave us the example of washing His disciple's feet in John 13:4-15.  We are to be about His work!

The NC is currently preparing its nominations to be published to the congregation. In addition, the NC is now soliciting nominations from the congregation for all upcoming vacant positions.

The NC will then review eligibility and contact individuals nominated and prepare a final nominations list.  Additional information will be provided during worship services in the weeks to come. Nominations should be submitted in writing - written and handed to any member on the Nominating Committee or emailed to [email protected].   Do not hesitate to nominate yourself.  Some information on current positions, terms and candidates is below.  Please remember to pray for the people and process.  It is the most important thing you can do for support.  More specific information will be furnished upon request. Thank you and God bless!

Faithfully His,
Gregg Yawman, NC Chair

Call Process Update
A new call candidate list has been compiled from names submitted by the congregation along with names from the District office. Our Circuit Visitor, Pastor Ken Green, is now calling all those on the list to confirm their eligibility and will then compile a final list for us.  We ask for your continued prayers as we wait for the final list to be prepared.  Once the final list is received, the Call Committee will start the interview process. Please continue to pray for this call process: that the Holy Spirit is working on the hearts of the pastors on the list and that the Call Committee is able to discern God's will for Trinity.

April Has 5 Sundays
Every month with five Sundays means Food and Funds on the Fifth!  We follow the example of the early Christian Church and share our gifts and abundance with anyone who has a need.  On April 29 and 30, the Lake Eola Publix grocery cart will receive canned and boxed food for "The Samaritans".  This is a small group of Christian men and women who see Jesus in the faces of hundreds of men and women living in Orlando without permanent shelter.  Trinity is connected to this charitable group through Maleny Perez, a teacher in our VPK classroom. Please donate Macaroni & Cheese, vegetables that can be used for soup or stew, pasta and sauce, and Winn-Dixie or Publix gift cards to bless hundreds of our neighbors without walls.  Any Funds on the Fifth cash funds donated through the offering plate are added to the Discretionary Fund and offered to anyone in our church, school, or neighborhood in need of financial assistance.  Contact Deaconess Liz with questions: 407-488-1919 X 127 or [email protected] .

Comfort Dog Ministry
The Comfort Dog Ministry is now in fundraising mode.  Our dog is in training  and we need to get busy raising funds. Our immediate goal is $15,000 to cover the costs of the dog, dog supplies, Top Dog training, handler trainings, and next year's budget. We have created a ministry page at TrinityDowntown.com/comfortdog where you can learn more and donate any amount.  You may also use the collection plate to donate, marking your donation "Comfort Dog".  Very soon, we will be creating a Facebook GoFundMe page open for you, your family, friends and community connections to help us raise our goal.  This will be an on-going campaign, as this is not a line item in Trinity's budget, but funded solely by donations from supporters.  Trinity family, this will be YOUR ministry comfort dog, and we look forward to the endless possibilities that lie ahead for this ministry!
