Your Weekly News & Updates
Guest Preachers this Weekend
Please extend a warm Trinity welcome Saturday evening to Rev. & Mrs. Paul Foelber.  Pastor Foelber is a retired LCMS pastor who will be preaching at the 6pm service for us this weekend.  On Sunday, please welcome Rev. Kermit Rickenberg, Missionary Director of the Central FL branch of Burning Bush Ministries and Executive Director of Support for Missions, Inc.

Senior Pastor Call Update
We at Trinity have been blessed with a variety of vacancy pastors over the past few months which has provided new perspective on the variety of pastoral preaching and teaching.  New perspectives and teaching techniques can provide to any congregation a boost in spirit as we work through God's plan for both Trinity and the leader he is preparing to continue on the Mission and Ministries of Trinity.  We may be impatient while we wait but please know full well that God is in charge and he does have a plan for Trinity.
Following the call decline by Pastor Jacob May, our District President, Rev. Greg Walton, immediately began to create a new call list for Trinity. For a variety of reasons, all of the individuals on our original call list are no longer being considered.  As part of this new call process, we have again opened Sr. Pastor nominations to Trinity members through September 30th.  Official nomination forms are available in the narthex or from the church office-please complete and return to a call committee member or to the church office. Feel free to direct any questions you may have to the members of the call committee. Stephanie Landis, Ted Lange, Mike Kunze, Jenn Blackwood, Mike Hofmann, Bonnie Roby, Rocky Smothers, and Bruce Hahn.

To provide for Trinity's spiritual leadership and pastoral care needs during this call process, Trinity's Leadership has asked Reverend Tom Zehnder to return to Trinity to serve Trinity as a short term vacancy pastor.  Pastor & Mrs. Zehnder will be returning to Central Florida in late October.  Pastor Zehnder has agreed to serve beginning in November and through Easter weekend which falls on April 16 th in the coming year.  We are still working on details of Pastor Zehnder's responsibilities at Trinity but we look to him first and foremost to serve the spiritual well-being of Trinity by planning and leading worship, attending to the spiritual needs of staff and congregation, officiating at weddings and funerals as needed, baptisms, and care for hospitalized and shut-ins.  Pastor Zehnder will work to continue efforts to build strong relationships between church and school as well as to build and encourage strong relationships with the community and our District and Synod leadership.  It is reassuring to know that Pastor Zehnder is familiar with Trinity and that he has a strong passion and love for Trinity.  Also know and understand that the mission and ministries of Trinity are ours and that regardless of what pastor is present on any given weekend, we, the congregation, have the responsibility and desire to continue to "Grow Together" while "Bringing People One Step Closer to Jesus".

Know that the Senior Pastor Call Committee is fully committed to move forward to identify God's plan for Trinity and will continue to keep you updated with news of progress in the Senior Pastor Call Process.  As always, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact any one of the Call Committee members listed above.  Above all else, keep this process in your prayers, along with the committee members, members of leadership and your ministry staff.  Thank you.

A Basket with Big Help
Here is one more way you can share a gift of respect and dignity with someone asking for assistance:  In the Narthex there is a large basket with prepared gift bags.  This past week, the Thrivent representatives in our Florida-Georgia LCMS District asked all the Pastors attending the District Conference to put these bags together.   Take one for your car, to offer when you see someone day to day who asks for help.  When you see someone who is asking for assistance, you DO have a gift to give.  "It isn't much, but I want you to know that this gift bag comes with a prayer for you today."  Then DO say a prayer.

Support the Flood Victims
The last week of this month, our Trinity Lutheran School teachers and administrators join almost 500 educators throughout Florida and Georgia who serve in our Lutheran Schools for their annual conference.  They learn together and connect with each other, but also worship together.  During the closing worship, an offering of gift cards and cash will benefit the many people who have been struggling to recover from the flooding in Baton Rouge.  YOU CAN HELP TOO!  Make a contribution of a gift card to Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, or Visa and hand it to one of our Trinity school teachers or administrators.  He or she will take it to the conference.  If you prefer, you may send that gift card or check made payable to "Florida-Georgia District" and put BRLS Relief in the memo, and send it to: Florida-Georgia District Office - LCMS 5850 T. G. Lee Blvd. Suite 500, Orlando, Florida 32822 ATTN: Lynda Voss.

Trinity's Prayer Circle
Some special people in our school CDC ministry created a prayer circle from a large wooden cross. It's amazing! The Prayer Circle is a way for the entire Trinity family to connect and support one another through prayer. A giant wheel with clothes pins make up the circle on the cross. Each clothespin is labeled with a different part of ministries of Trinity Lutheran Church including school ministries, different groups of staff, classrooms, etc. We have each grade all the way from the infants to the eighth grade, the administrative staff, maintenance, kitchen, pastoral team, finance, music, PE, and Spanish teachers, and the congregation too (some people belong to more than one group, that's ok). Each week the group listed on the clothes pins will pray for the group on the inner circle. The congregation's prayer assignment will be listed in the prayer list each week, and will also let you know who has been praying for you all week.  We hope this commitment to regularly pray over our entire Trinity Family will build a sense of community and unity as well as a growing awareness of just how interconnected our Trinity family truly is.  We are GROWING TOGETHER to bring people ONE STEP CLOSER to Jesus!  Thanks for participating.

Event Update
Trinity loves to host campus community outreach events!  This fall, we hoped to relaunch Oktoberfest after a break for many years. However, after researching resources and then speaking with many amazing volunteers and Trinity Leadership we have chosen not to move forward with the relaunch of Oktoberfest this year and will instead focus all our efforts the 500 th Anniversary of the Reformation coming in October 2017.  The 2017 event will include campus wide participation, community outreach, neighbor relationship building and service events.  This decision was not made quickly or lightly, and took into consideration, many factors.  The greatest consideration was the current list of scheduled activities going this fall that ask for Trinity volunteer support.  We have FIVE spectacular volunteer led events/fundraisers for Trinity's primary outreach initiative, our school ministry, all in the next seven weeks for which we ask church families to help plan/coordinate and/or participate in (Grandparents Day, Book fair, 15 days of Pumpkin Patch Sales, Sam Hoard Golf Tournament and our biggest event of the year, Touch A Truck, on Nov. 5.).  We recognize, honor and appreciate the volunteer commitment made by all of our Trinity families and we know the great lengths you regularly go to in order to provide ministry and fundraising support.  THANK YOU for all you do.

Rev. Sam Hoard Memorial Golf Tournament
Trinity Lutheran School's annual Sam Hoard Memorial Golf Tournament is right around the corner, Saturday October 22nd. We are fundraising for Trinity's K-8 athletic department. To help us make this year a success, we are looking for support from you. Is your place of employment interested in donating drawing prizes or welcome bag items? Donations such as coupons, pens, key chains and other promotional pieces are always great additions. Any item with your logo is a great way to give free advertising for your company. Every little bit helps! To help out contact Trinity's Athletic Director, Lisa Crawford, at [email protected]. Thank you!  You can learn more about this event at http://school.trinitydowntown.com/golf-tournament

Children's Ministry
  • Every Sunday is a fun morning!  Trinity Lutheran Church offers the best choice for children ages 4 through 10 every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. when children experience Bible accounts of making tough choices, Kings and Queens, and Conquests in the name of the Lord. Please consider sharing your time with 5-6 children as a leader. Currently we are have an opening for a 1st grade teacher/leader, which could also be a shared position.  If you are unable to commit to every Sunday morning, your gift of any  scheduled time is welcome.  Contact Deaconess Liz: [email protected] or 407-488-1919 X 127.
  • Want to be part of the success? Sunday morning children's program leaders are needed to encourage the children's regular attendance.  If you feel a pull on your heart to give 1 hour each week and share fun with a small group of 1st and 2nd grade or 4th & 5th grade children, please contact Lisa Warren:407-927-5140.
Urgent Prayer Requests During the Week
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to [email protected] .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.

Invest with LCEF and Help Earn THOUSAND$$ for Trinity!
Trinity just received nearly $23,000 from LCEF to assist our ministry!  The check is the result of the outstanding response from the church, school, and CDC to open an account with Lutheran Church Extension Fund!   If you haven't already, please consider opening an LCEF savings account.  The more investors mean the higher the rebate check will be next year.  Savings account investments start as low as $25 for children under 18 and $100 for adults.   If your child is new to Trinity Lutheran School in either the CDC or K-8 programs Trinity will donate $25 to start the account.  Adult investment accounts with LCEF benefit Trinity in the same way the Youth Investor accounts do, so parents and church members, you can participate as well!  You can apply online at LCEF.org .   For more information, please contact Bruce Hahn at 407-701-3234 or email [email protected].
