For Your Safety

We are excited for some repairs to the plexi-glass over the stained glass windows in the sanctuary that will be occurring soon. The plexi-glass will be replaced and everything around the windows will be recalked.

In preparation for these repairs, scaffolding has been set up on the west side of the sanctuary. Please be advised of this and pay special attention to the following:

  1. The external door to the undercroft MAY NOT be accessed while the scaffolding is in place. Please do not enter and/or exit the undercroft via the external door.
  2. If you are entering the premises from the north parking lot behind the sanctuary, please watch your head as you walk under and around the scaffolding.
  3. Parents, please make sure your children stay away from the scaffolding. Under no circumstances is anyone to be climbing on or playing near it.

If you have questions, please contact the church office.

Choir and Handbell Rehearsals Resume

If you would like to be part of Trinity's music ministry, handbells and choir are great ways to begin serving!

Trinity's choir meets on Wednesdays at 7:30pm and sing during the Sunday 11:15am service. Rehearsals for choir will resume on Wednesday, August 31 and their first anthem will be on Sunday, September 11.

Handbells meet on Wednesdays at 6:30pm and serve during the Sunday 11:15am service. Rehearsals will resume rehearsals on September 7.

Trinity's Adopt A Classroom Ministry
You are invited to be a source of encouragement and blessing to the staff of our CDC and church as part of the Adopt-A-Classroom ministry. When you sign up to adopt/sponsor a classroom, you will be matched with a group of 2-7 teachers/staff who you will bring a treat or gift to once each month from September 2022-May 2023. The treats and gifts can be as simple and fun as a candy bar, a few flowers, a box of tea, a plate of cookies, a notepad, pens, etc. Teachers and staff also appreciate the inclusion of short encouraging notes and the sharing of your favorite Bible verses. Once you sign up for this ministry, you will receive a more detailed list of gift ideas as well as places online or locally that will make it easier to come up with gifts each month. We’ll also keep in touch with you periodically for your feedback and to offer help as needed.

Several teachers and staff members have expressed how much they enjoyed seeing Trinity members coming into the CDC hallways to visit with staff and deliver little gifts. One of the joys of being a sponsor is to know that you are part of helping our church and school feel more connected to one another.

If you have any questions or would like to sign up to Adopt-a-Class, please email or call the numbers below. Please indicate if you have a specific classroom or staff group that you’d like to adopt. This year we’re also excited to be adding the staff of our pastoral and finance offices, kitchen, maintenance, and organists to the list of those who will receive encouragements and gifts.

Thank you for prayerful consideration of becoming a part of this ministry!

Family Fun Night

Trinity's next Family Fun Night will be held on Friday, September 16, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. All ages from young to old are welcome to join in on some fun and games, whether board games or card games. The main event for the night is bingo with prizes that include nostalgia candy, "a blast from the past," and gift cards from various locations.

The Fellowship and Outreach team will be providing "A Chili Cook-Off" for dinner. Let's see who wins the First Annual Cook-Off Trophy! Attendees are asked to bring a dessert. A free-will offering will be taken to help cover operating expenses as well as for the Pastor's Discretionary Fund.

This month will also include a themed basket on display for a raffle drawing by the name "A.S.A.P.: Always Say A Prayer." So bring your $1 bills and play your heart out! Baskets change each month, but the purpose remains the same: to raise money to purchase gazebos for the courtyard.

Please contact the church office with any questions.

New Foundations Class
Trinity will be offering a Foundations Class beginning September 10. If you or someone you know is interested in joining Trinity or wants information about the Lutheran faith, this is the class for you! An introduction to Christian teaching and the Lutheran faith, the purpose of this class is to provide the information needed to understand what Lutherans believe and decide whether Trinity is the church for you. Joining Trinity after completing this class is not required, but our hope is that you will find this to be a wonderful community where you can be involved and grow spiritually.

Meetings will occur September 10-November 5 from 4:00pm-5:30pm in Loggia 2. If you are interested in the class or need more information, please RSVP by September 5, 2022 by emailing the church office.

For anyone who may want to participate but is not available when we are meeting or is not comfortable meeting in person, we are working on an online option that will give you the same information but can be completed on your own. However, we encourage you to attend in person if possible as you will have the opportunity to interact with the others in the class and become connected to people at the church who are learning alongside you. If you are interested in this online option, please contact the church office at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com

A Note from the Wasmunds

Dear Pastor Doug and friends in Christ at Trinity Downtown,

Warm summer greetings from Seoul!

Our family has returned to South Korea after our partner visits in the US this summer. Since arrival, the school semester started immediately for Lily (now in 11th grade) and Olivia (9th grade). It has taken several days to get caught up with our correspondences following our visitations, so thank you for your patience.

Mostly, we wish to thank you for the time you allowed us to visit with you this summer. Worshipping together on July 30 and 31 was a refreshing blessing. We also thank you for the chance we had to share a message during church as well as an update during Bible class about the work here. As we hopefully conveyed clearly when we were with you, we recognize that we could not be here without you by God’s grace. We are truly partners in the Gospel.

Again, thank you for your support, care, and love shown to us in many ways. It was a true joy to see you this summer. Allow us to also thank you specifically for the latest donations sent in our name. We pray that God may guide us to be good stewards of the time and opportunities your gift grants us as we serve in this place, so that more may hear the Gospel message.

Peace in Jesus,

The Wasmunds

Peace Serving in Uvalde, TX

Peace Comfort Dog has been called to serve in Uvalde, TX. In total, 26 LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their teams from 11 states will deploy to Uvalde to be present with children and staff as they return to school.

During May and June of 2022, thirteen LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and handlers deployed to Uvalde, Texas, for two weeks to be a calming and comforting presence to the families and community after the horrific shooting at Robb Elementary, taking the precious lives of 19 students and two teachers.

However, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry’s mission of serving and caring for Uvalde does not end there. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their handlers have been invited to return to Uvalde by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.

The K-9s and their teams will be present at each of the District’s nine schools for three weeks each morning, from September 6 to September 23, to be a calming and comforting presence for the students as they return to school. They will also be available to the staff and parents to walk with them during their healing process.

Peace Comfort Dog will be part of Wave 3, September 18-24. Team handlers Dave and Judy Green, along with Top Dog Paul Soost will travel with Peace.

How can you help? First, pray! Please pray for the parents, children, and teachers of Uvalde as school begins and the community continues to grieve the loss of nineteen students and two teachers taken tragically from them. Please pray that the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs will help bring a calming and comforting

distraction. Please pray for the teams traveling.

If you would like to make a donation to LCC to help with the deployment to Uvalde, you can also contribute to the following funds:

*Please note that these funds help support all 26 teams traveling.

Team Peace appreciates your continued prayers and support! Thanks so much!
