Hurricane Irma

PLEASE BE PREPARED
Please don't neglect to be prepared. Water, food, safe shelter, batteries, flashlights, medications... in addition to care of your property - bring in anything that can be launched into the air, etc. And pray - we are a prayerful community of believers... lift up this community, your friends and neighbors, thank God for His provision, ask for His protection, and look forward to His response!

CAMPUS IS NOW CLOSED
Please watch your email and check Trinity's website and Facebook pages to get updates from Trinity on worship services and activities on campus. ALL campus activities, meetings, worship services and school programs are closed/cancelled through Monday, September 11th.  On Monday, the campus will be evaluated to determine if it is safe to resume normal church and school operations. For your safety, no one is to return to campus/offices until that "all-clear" is given. We'll be up and running again as soon as possible, (prayerfully, on Tuesday). While away, please note that online giving is an option to continue to support Trinity operations as well as any additional clean up or outreach needs and opportunties that may arise.

FOLLOW UP AFTER THE STORM
Trinity has put into place a Disaster Response follow up system (SERVE/NEED/KNOW) to allow for our Trinity family and surrounding neighbors to share needs and opportunities to serve. After the storm, when you know what your circumstances are, please check in through this page to let us know if we can serve to meet a need in any way, or if you are safe, dry and secure and may be able to serve another person's need.  You can find the link to this Response System on our website and it will also be shared on Facebook later this week. Please do not hesitate to reach out!

GOD BLESS YOU!
You are blessed. Be a blessing to others! Smile at store clerks, be patient in lines for supplies, offer encouragement, help a neighbor...and pray!  Stay safe!  Check in after the storm and let us know how you're doing.

Great News for Trinity!
Praise God from whom all blessing flow! Last week our prayers for a new Sr. Pastor have been answered. The Rev. Doug Kallesen prayerfully considered and accepted the divine call to serve as our Senior Pastor. We should be very excited to see what God has in-store for Trinity Downtown in the coming weeks, months and years.
Pastor Kallesen and many other people are working very hard to put together installation service. Right now that is scheduled for October 1st. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer.
Thanksgiving to God,Tim Norris

"Comfort Backpacks" for Children in Need
We'll be collecting supplies to create "Comfort Backpacks" for children who need a little extra love and care while they are in transition from their home, to DCF, foster care or medical care in an initiative made in partnership with the Orlando Police Department, the Department of Children and Families and the Howard Phillips Center.  Our goals is to provide 250 backpacks.  During Trinity's Oktoberfest/Reformation Event on Friday, October 27th we'll be assembling these backpacks with the supplies we're gathering now.  As you are able, please contribute the following items (collection in the church Narthex): Small blankets, small stuffed animals, toothpaste, toothbrush, small toys for a boy and/or girl, playing cards, crayons, coloring books (Christian content preferred - the dollar store has some!).  Cash gifts are welcome also, and we can do the shopping for you.  If you have questions or concerns contact Terry Boggs at [email protected] or call 407-488-1919 x101.

Ensuring our Guests in Worship Feel Welcome
Greeters and Ushers are spiritual ambassadors for the Church and serve as representatives of Jesus in a worship service. For both members and guests it's an important part of coming into worship each week.  Even more so for guests, it shares the warmth and personality of the congregation overall and let's people know that they matter and that we welcome them into Worship at Trinity.  Greeters meet people at the door with a smile and a brief word, and ushers serve to hand out worship materials, answer questions, give directions.  Both are such important roles to the ministry of Trinity.  If you are gifted in hospitality and would enjoy serving in this way, please contact Omar Dittmer for greeting ( [email protected] ) or Joyce Phillips for ushering ( [email protected] )  Thank you.

Music Ministry News
As summer comes to an end, we are looking forward to hearing special music again from our choral and bell choirs.  If you have a love of music and wish to be a part of this ministry, please keep reading for details and contact information!

Parish Choir
Our weekly rehearsals will start right after Labor Day on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:30pm in the church basement.  Everyone who loves to sing is welcome - we have four different parts (bass, tenor, alto, soprano), so your voice is sure to fit in somewhere! We especially would love to see those who joined us in June for our "Make a More Joyful Noise" Sunday.  (And yes, we intend to have one of those Sundays again - we'll let you know when!) For further information, please contact Paul Soost at [email protected].
First Floor Once In A While Choir (FFOIAWC)
We started this choir last year (2016) for those who could not make a weekly commitment and/or could not manage the stairs to the balcony, not knowing if this was something that would take hold and continue.  The response has been great - in addition to singing praises to God, our singers from the early, middle, and late services have had a chance to reunite, as well as make new friends. Our first practice will be in late September - stay tuned for the exact date!  We will sing about once a month and alternate between the early and late services.  For more details, please contact Glenda Frazier at [email protected].
Hand Bell Choir
Ring-a-Lings, we will have our first rehearsal on Wednesday, September 13 at 6:30pm in the balcony. Some special music has already been chosen, including, of course, a great challenge piece!  Anyone, male or female, teenager or adult, who would like to join us, please contact Glenda Frazier at [email protected].  We would love to add to our bell choir and have some alternates.  If you've never played or you need to brush up on your skills, that's no problem; we can schedule a few extra practices to bring you up to speed.
Brass Ensemble
If you're one of the people who have said, "I miss hearing the brass at our special services," please step up and turn the longing into reality!  We have members who are willing to play; we just need someone to coordinate practice times and select music.  Please contact Chanda Gillenwater at [email protected] if you can take on this challenge to further enhance our services.

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to [email protected] .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.
