Guest Preacher this Weekend
Please extend a warm Trinity welcome to Rev. Stephen Schroeder who will be preaching at all services this weekend.

A Basket with Big Help
In the Narthex there is a large basket with prepared gift bags. Take one for your car, so when you see someone who is asking for assistance, you DO have a gift to give. Say: "It isn't much, but I want you to know that this gift bag comes with a prayer for you tod ay."  Then DO say a prayer.

Grandparents, Have You Signed Up Yet?
Grandparents of the New Millennium
Are you ready to take grandparenting to the next level?  Trinity will be offering a new study group on Tuesday
evenings beginning October 11 at 6:30 PM that will be based on the book, Extreme Grandparenting: The Ride of your Life! by Dr. Tim and Darcy Kimmel.  This class will offer timeless and tested principles for grandparenting in the 21 st century from two experts in family dynamics.  This honest and Christ-centered study will motivate and guide you to develop richer relationships with your children and their children.  This study will be led by called Trinity Lutheran Church member, Julia Malenke. If you have questions, please email Mrs. Malenke at [email protected] or call 407-488-1919 x101. Each study participant (or one per couple) will need to purchase a copy of the Kimmel's book for $13.  These will be available in the church and school offices by October 1.  Please RSVP by October 4 at the email address provided to let us know how many will be attending so we can choose the appropriate meeting location.  We look forward to seeing lots of Grandparents there!
Check out the full listing at website at church.trinitydowntown.com/word

Children's Choir
All children in K-5th grade are welcome to participate in Trinity's Children's Choir.  Mrs. Julia Malenke will lead this choir which begins on October 5th.  Practices will be on Wednesdays during the school year from 5:00-5:45pm in the church music room (basement of the Sanctuary).  For more information, please contact Mrs. Malenke at  [email protected]

Food and Funds on the Fifth
Since October has a fifth weekend, start shopping for the BOGO deals and intentionally bring canned and non-perishable food to worship services on October 29 and 30.  This month our school's chapel offering is also a food collection, so we will add our baskets together for the Food Pantry at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church.  This pantry serves hundreds of people in our extended neighborhood -- children, elderly, single adults.  In addition to the food items, please share monetary donations for our Discretionary Fund.  The dollars you give help members of our congregation when unexpected expenses and illness or accident results in financial needs.

Senior Pastor Call Update
To provide for Trinity's spiritual leadership and pastoral care needs during the call process, Trinity's Leadership has asked Reverend Tom Zehnder to return to Trinity to serve Trinity as a short term vacancy pastor.  Pastor & Mrs. Zehnder will be returning to Central Florida in late October.  Pastor Zehnder has agreed to serve beginning in November and through Easter weekend which falls on April 16 th in the coming year.  We are still working on details of Pastor Zehnder's responsibilities at Trinity but we look to him first and foremost to serve the spiritual well-being of Trinity by planning and leading worship, attending to the spiritual needs of staff and congregation, officiating at weddings and funerals as needed, baptisms, and care for hospitalized and shut-ins.  Pastor Zehnder will work to continue efforts to build strong relationships between church and school as well as to build and encourage strong relationships with the community and our District and Synod leadership.  It is reassuring to know that Pastor Zehnder is familiar with Trinity and that he has a strong passion and love for Trinity.  Also know and understand that the mission and ministries of Trinity are ours and that regardless of what pastor is present on any given weekend, we, the congregation, have the responsibility and desire to continue to "Grow Together" while "Bringing People One Step Closer to Jesus".

Know that the Senior Pastor Call Committee is fully committed to move forward to identify God's plan for Trinity and will continue to keep you updated with news of progress in the Senior Pastor Call Process.  As always, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact any one of the Call Committee members listed above.  Above all else, keep this process in your prayers, along with the committee members, members of leadership and your ministry staff.  Thank you.(Updates on the Senior Pastor Call Process can be found on Trinity's website )

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
In August Trinity started a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club , which serves K-8 students who attend not just Trinity, but other Downtown area schools. Led by Trinity staff and parent volunteers, this group meets after school on Fridays and has about 50 children involved; nearly half who come from schools other than Trinity! The values of FCA and the presence of Christ are paramount to living healthy, positive, purpose driven lives. The FCA team is excited to share these values through Trinity with our local youth, so that we may all grow together in Christ to make Orlando strong, through building a faithful, loving community. FCA key values are:
  • Integrity : We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly. (Proverbs 11:3)
  • Serving : We will model Jesus' example of serving. ( John 13:1-17 )
  • Teamwork: We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships. (Philippians 2:1-4)
  • Excellence: We will honor and glorify God in all we do. (Colossians 3:23-24)
If you have a child who is in kindergarten through 8th grade who would like to join FCA at Trinity, please contact Trinity's Extended Care Director, April Donati.  Trinity is committed to making FCA accessible to all children, so the registration fee is very low, and there are scholarships available to those in need.

Urgent Prayer Requests During the Week
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to [email protected] .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.

Life Giving Food

There is NO CHARGE for the dinner, but the "catch" is an expected donation that fits your budget. If you cannot attend, but support this pro-life ministry for women, please consider donating to help with the $500 cost of Trinity's sponsored table.
Contact Deaconess Liz for details:407-488-1919 X 127 or [email protected]

Invest with LCEF and Help Earn THOUSAND$$ for Trinity!
Trinity just received nearly $23,000 from LCEF to assist our ministry!  The check is the result of the outstanding response from the church, school, and CDC to open an account with Lutheran Church Extension Fund!   If you haven't already, please consider opening an LCEF savings account.
The more investors mean the higher the rebate check will be next year.  Savings account investments start as low as $25 for children under 18 and $100 for adults.   If your child is new to Trinity Lutheran School in either the CDC or K-8 programs Trinity will donate $25 to start the account.  Adult investment accounts with LCEF benefit Trinity in the same way the Youth Investor accounts do, so parents and church members, you can participate as well!  You can apply online at LCEF.org .   For more information, please contact Bruce Hahn at 407-701-3234 or email [email protected].

Redeeming Life Maternity Home is seeking a new staff member!

This is a full time overnight house parent position.  Please email resume to [email protected] or call 407-790-9745.
