Your Weekly News & Updates
It's LWML Sunday This Weekend at Trinity
LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) has celebrated 76 years as a service and missions organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod.  The LWML started in Chicago during World War II when very few women held jobs outside the home. These women were dedicated to making use of all they had, and that tradition is carried on today here at Trinity.  LWML meets on the first and third Thursday each month to complete simple tied quilt projects that are then distributed annually in a February transport to a central distribution point.

We want to acquaint you with a few of the simple tied quilts we have made this year which will be distributed throughout the world.  As you can see we have them draped on some pews. These simple quilts, stitched with love, have served as temporary shelters propped up like tents, sleeping bags for warmth and even as temporary clothing when nothing else is available in areas ravaged by natural disasters and wars.  YOU can be a part of this effort and meet with the LWML group and help create even more quilts to send out to those in need! All women are welcome to join the 1st/3rd Thursday group - you don't have to know anything at all about quilting or sewing.

LWML efforts are funded largely through donations of loose change! Amazing things can be accomplished with spare change (mites). Please take a small mite box home with you from the Narthex. Put it in your car, on your dresser... wherever you might collect loose change. Once it is full, bring it back and place it in the large mite box in the east narthex (side room with the water fountain). Thank you to everyone for your previous donations.

Ring That Bell!
If you've ever listened to our Handbell Choir and thought, "I'd like to try ringing one of those bells", you'll have a chance to do just that this Sunday, October 7. After each Sunday service, there will be a sampling of our beautiful handbells in the pews next to the west side entrance.  Stop by on your way out and give it a try! If you find that you'd like to learn more, we can arrange for some ringing lessons.

Heavy Lifting - Help Needed
Next Saturday, October 13, we are needing some muscle that can assist Trinity in the first part of the move.  We are needing assistance moving the school office furniture, files, etc. from the current location in the Front office to their new office in Heritage Hall.  Please plan on meeting at 9am near the front offices and we'll get to work!

Oktoberfest!  Mark your Calendars for Friday, October 26
Join us for a fun evening at Trinity from 5:30-8:30pm with live music, great food, mini musical performances, festival games, German beer and wine and so much more. Please mark your calendars!

Fun for the whole family! Invite friends with a personal invitation or by sharing our Facebook event on your own Facebook page! Inviting new guests to Trinity's campus is easy - just "like" and "share" the events from Trinity's Facebook page to your own page and any community/neighborhood groups you're connected to! That extends our reach, and our OUTreach, significantly!!

Volunteer opportunities are a great way to serve for a portion of the evening, and then have the other portion to hang out and enjoy some wonderful fellowship. To volunteer, please go to http://signup.com/go/kSooyuN

Sponsorships are also available and much appreciated !  Again this year, we'll feature sponsor names in our final event program and on signage at the event as a small thank you for contributing to this Trinity community event!

GREAT JOB! Food contributions for October's meal have been covered by volunteers. THANK YOU for your ongoing support to Rebecca's Garden of Hope!

How are YOU Gifted - Where Can YOU Serve
Trinity's children and youth Sunday morning Bible classes have started out on such a positive note. We've had over 30 in attendance and everyone seems very energized as they gather together to learn about our Savior. In order to keep our promise of having flexibility for our teachers, we still need to find ONE MORE teacher for this quarter: 1st grades. THANK YOU to those who signed for VPK and Youth!  If we are able to form teams of three teachers per class, then each teacher will have an assistant on most of the Sundays that they teach, plus they will be able to take a Sunday off for family events or travel. Remember that we do have training available. If you enjoy sharing the Word of God (and you don't have to be a theologian to do this) and are invested in seeing that the next generations know about the real presence of a loving God in their lives, then this ministry might be just for you.  Please contact Julia Malenke if you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer to teach: jmalenke@trinitydowntown.com

Serving Through Singing
Our Trinity Parish Choir is a small but enthusiastic group of people who have a love for singing to and about God.  The choir exists not to perform or entertain, but to enhance the worship service and hopefully to bring us all one step closer to Jesus through music.  We are working on some beautiful pieces that will be heard over the next few months; however, we need more singers! We realize that due to illness, work schedules, and other life problems, not everyone can attend every practice and every service at which we sing - so, in order to continue singing regularly, we need enough voices to cover all parts when there are absences.  We welcome all voices (and all ages from teens on up), but we especially need sopranos, tenors, and basses. If you enjoy singing, please take a moment to pray about serving God through singing in the choir. We practice from 7:30 - 8:30pm every Wednesday in the sanctuary balcony. To ensure gate access for rehearsals or if you have any questions, please contact Paul at sooster67@yahoo.com
or Glenda at whitemice@bellsouth.net.

New Adult Study on Sundays at 9:30am
Gospel Truths about Submission is a 6-week study about what Scripture says regarding Submission and how we might better apply it.
  1. Submission and its Role in the Kingdom
  2. The Submission of Christ
  3. Submission to Authority
  4. Submission by family role
  5. Submission to One Another
  6. Better Awareness and Practice of Submission
This topic is much more than just poorly received in American Culture today - it's radioactive.  Our culture views submission to be likened to a "doormat" for everyone else's abuse, and its appropriateness for marriage by world standards is scoffed at. Few, even in Christendom, understand or accept it as a necessary part of our walk with the Lord. We will take a cursory view of submission in the Believer's life from a Biblical perspective, talking about its purpose, role and effects.  We will also look at practical applications.

Please let us know!
Please let your Trinity family know of any scheduled surgery or hospital stay.  In addition to scheduled procedures, please give the church office a call to let us know about extended illness, unplanned hospital stays, or even the birth of a child.  You can call the office at any time and leave a message-no need to wait until business hours (407-488-1919 x101). During business hours, that information can then be forwarded to the appropriate caregivers. For an emergency that requires the care of a Pastor after hours or over the weekend call or text us at 407-490-7339 and leave a message. We'll get back to you ASAP. We want to be sure to know when you need us-whether to pray with you before a scheduled procedure, sit with you during a loved one's procedure, pray for you while you recover, visit you in the hospital/at home or to share praise and thanksgiving prayers for good news/results. Just let us know.  Thank you.

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.
