Please extend a warm Trinity welcome to Rev. Larry Schaefer who will be pre
aching at all services this weekend.

Thank you!
Special thanks to those who were able to come out last weekend, with very short notice, to help clean up the campus after Hurricane Matthew.   Thank you all!  (Omar & Gladys Dittmer, Julia Malenke,  Robert Trapp, Bob Blackwood, Kevin & Susan Brockberg, Eric & Wendy Havens.)

PUMPKINS PATCH DELIVERY is now SUNDAY AT NOON!
The pumpkin delivery truck broke down in Louisiana and is rescheduled to deliver on Sunday at noon . We need a strong turn-out of support to get this truck unloaded so the patch is ready for pumpkin sales on Monday.  Please, bring a change a clothes if you attend 11am worship so you're able to stay and help, or if you attend an earlier service, maybe have breakfast out with the family then head back for an hour of service at the church.  The PTL volunteers would really appreciate the help, and the more people we have, the faster it will go!  Thank you.

SENIOR PASTOR CALL UPDATE
On Wednesday night, October 12, the entire call committee was able to meet and start preparing for our next Call. We had an opportunity to map out our process of new meetings, interviews, and visits. The call committee also had a chance to speak with Pastor Ken Green, our Circuit Visitor, and receive his insights, support, and advice on our upcoming journey. Stay tuned for the publishing of the entire new call list and updates on our progress and next steps. As always, feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have at stephanie.landis@psiusa.com or 407-448-8690 cell.

Matsiko Orphan Choir at Trinity October 26th, 7pm
The Matsiko World Orphan Choir present a concert here at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 26 th at 7pm in our sanctuary (and during TLS school chapel that morning).  This choir is made up of orphaned and at-risk children from India, Peru, and Liberia who perform in colorful costumes sharing upbeat music.  This is a wonderful opportunity to be encouraged and to help support children who are singing to break the cycle of poverty.  A free will offering will be taken after the concert and the children will also have a table with items for sale that have been made in their respective countries.
Host Homes Needed
We are in need of 6 more homes in which to house choir members on Tuesday night, October 25 and Wednesday night, October 26.  An adult chaperone will accompany a group of 2-3 children. They can share a room with eachother and they have sleeping bags available if needed.  Hosts will need to feed them breakfast each day and prepare a sack lunch for them.  Please contact Julia Malenke (jmalenke@trinitydowntown.com)  if you would like to serve as a host for these children as well as giving your family the opportunity for a great cross-cultural experience.

Mom's of all Ages Sunday Study Group
A new study group begins this Sunday, October 16 th for Mom's of all ages and stages.  The group will be reading the book,  God's Wisdom for a Mother's Heart by Bobbie Wolgemuth. " All mothers will benefit from this study that explores the many issues facing moms from a biblical perspective. It will encourage women at every age and stage of life to strengthen their relationship with God, which in turn strengthens their influence in the home.  This study helps moms explore motherhood in light of Bible's teachings. With applications for personal growth, the reflection questions along with the group discussions will strengthen their community as they learn from the Bible and each other."

Acts 2:45
This is the new name for Food on the Fifth.  Look it up!  The early Christian believers recognized God's love isn't a one way street: it comes from God to you and then through you to others. When a fifth Sunday occurs, Trinity intentionally collects food and funds to share in our church home and community.  October has a fifth weekend, start shopping for the BOGO deals and intentionally bring canned and non-perishable food to worship services on October 29 and 30.  In addition to the food items, please share monetary donations for our Discretionary Fund.  The dollars you give help members of our congregation when unexpected expenses and illness or accident results in financial needs.  This month our school's chapel offering is also a food collection, so we will add our baskets together for the Food Pantry at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church.  This pantry serves hundreds of people in our extended neighborhood -- children, elderly, single adults.

OWLS
On Friday, October 28th,  let's have lunch at Brick and Fire Pizza and Pasta Parlor, located at 1621 S. Orange Ave. in Orlando.  We will meet there at 11:30. There was a really good attendance last month---looking forward to seeing everyone this month. Please e-mail robert.w.gordon@hotmail.com or call 407-897-1418 to confirm-Bob and Audrey Gordon

Music Notes
  • 1st Floor Once In A While Choir - Our next rehearsal is at 7pm on Thursday, October 20 in the middle loggia classroom.  We will also meet at 7:40am on Sunday, October 23 to warm up, and then we'll sing for the first time at the 8am service!  Please contact Glenda at whitemice@bellsouth.net if you have any questions.
  • Epiphany Cantata - We had to cancel our first rehearsal because of Hurricane Matthew, so we will now meet at 9:30am on Saturday, October 22 in the music room.  If you aren't in the Parish Choir but would like to sing in the cantata (on January 8, 2017), please come to the rehearsal. We will have at least two more "cantata-only" practices this year, plus a dress rehearsal during the first week of January.  Please contact Glenda at whitemice@bellsouth.net if you have any questions.
Trinity Shares Christmas
Christmas is just over two months away!  Watch for our Trinity Shares Christmas tree - it will be in the narthex the first weekend in November! The ornaments will contain gift, food, and gift card requests for children of incarcerated parents and for the children's caretakers.  As in years past, we are partnering with Angel Tree Ministries to provide two gifts for each child and food for a Christmas dinner for each family.  We are in the process of contacting the families; we will hopefully help twelve incarcerated parents reach out with love to a total of 22 children this Christmas.

Children's Ministry
  • Sunday School Celebration Report.  The finale of our Sunday School kick-off celebration on September 11 was a helium balloon release with prayer cards attached.  How high those balloons floated!  On September 15, Carly's balloon was found in Ocoee.  We received a great letter with a thank-you for the special prayer.  We also received a telephone call from a woman in Clermont who found Nathalie's balloon stuck in her rose bush.
  • Want to be part of the success? Sunday morning children's program leaders are needed to encourage the children's regular attendance.  If you feel a pull on your heart to give 1 hour each week or 1 Sunday a month to share fun with a small group of children, please contact Lisa Warren:407-927-5140 or Deaconess Liz:407-488-1919 X127 or eborth@trinitydowntown.org.

Sponsorship Opportunities
Trinity Downtown invites you to become a sponsor of Trinity's Downtown Orlando Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Over the years this event has become a family and community favorite in the Downtown Orlando area and draws thousands to our Trinity Downtown campus.  In addition to dozens of trucks to explore, the event includes tours of the School and historic Sanctuary, an organ demo, vendor sales and displays by local businesses, bands, face painting, games, food and refreshments to entertain the crowds.  Proceeds from this event benefit the ministry of Trinity Lutheran School, infants through 8th grade.  We are asking our Trinity families, local corporations and businesses to become sponsors by committing to a donation of funds for specific event day vendors. These sponsorship opportunities are available to individuals, families, groups, and businesses.

All Touch-a-Truck Sponsors will be recognized by signage placed at the sponsored vendor location on event day and in a sponsor list published on Trinity's Touch-a-Truck Facebook page which has nearly 2000 followers.  The sign and post will include your family/group/company name and logo if applicable.

Breast Cancer Walk - October 29th - Volunteers Needed
It takes close to 600 volunteers to make this event happen and they would love to have a few people from Trinity team join them in making it a great day for our supporters, walkers and survivors! The day will begin at Lake Eola and volunteers are asked to arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 AM depending on the location they are assigned. Volunteers are expected to stay at their assigned location until dismissed by a committee member. Sometimes our volunteers like to join the walk when it begins but that is not always an option and their first priority needs to be their volunteer location.
  • The jobs available are those in which volunteers are assisting in setting up tents, delivering water and fruit to various walk locations both on the route and at Lake Eola, and assistance with the parking. This would be more physical work.
  • We are also looking for tech savvy individuals who can assist with registration.  The registration this year is going be on line through a program accessed through an IPad.  They will need to be quick to keep the crowd moving!
  • In addition we need cheerleaders and sign holders!!!!
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact jen Hughes @ jennifer_hughes@wgresorts.com

Urgent Prayer Requests During the Week
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.

Invest with LCEF and Help Earn THOUSAND$$ for Trinity!
Trinity just received nearly $23,000 from LCEF to assist our ministry!  The check is the result of the outstanding response from the church, school, and CDC to open an account with Lutheran Church Extension Fund!   If you haven't already, please consider opening an LCEF savings account.  The more investors mean the higher the rebate check will be next year.  Savings account investments start as low as $25 for children under 18 and $100 for adults.   If your child is new to Trinity Lutheran School in either the CDC or K-8 programs Trinity will donate $25 to start the account.  Adult investment accounts with LCEF benefit Trinity in the same way the Youth Investor accounts do, so parents and church members, you can participate as well!  You can apply online at LCEF.org .   For more information, please contact Bruce Hahn at 407-701-3234 or email bruce@mm-c.com.
