Sanctuary Renovations - Worship Schedule Change
We're worshiping in the gym again this weekend and it's LWML Sunday!  We'll have services at 6pm on Saturday and on Sunday at 8am and 11am.  Sanctuary renovations can be seen in a recent blog post on Trinity's website.

A Special Invitation to You
Join your Trinity family between the 8am and 11am services this Sunday for an ALL-CONGREGATION fellowship time from 9:05-9:45 and one big Trinity family Bible Study group led by Pastor Doug Kallesen from 9:50-10:50.

It's LWML Weekend!  Wear Purple and bring a purple $5 bill!
LWML, (Lutheran Womens Missionary League) has celebrated 75 + years as a service and missions organization of  the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  What amazing things can be accomplished  with spare change (the mite)! As a women's organization started during World War II when few women held jobs outsid
of the home, the founding women were dedicated to making use of anything available. We still carry on today. Trinity's LWML ladies meet the first and third Thursday each month to complete projects for our February 2018 drive to a central distribution point.

This weekend we celebrate LWML Sunday. We want to acquaint you with a few of the simple, tied quilts made by our LWML at Trinity - now on display in the gym. These very quilts will soon be distributed throughout the world. Our goal for this year is to finish 75 quilts. You can help us meet this goal. Once distributed, our quilts can serve as temporary shelters propped up like tents, sleeping bags for warmth, and even temporary clothing when nothing else is available in areas ravaged by natural disasters and war.

We DEPEND on donations of  CLOTH as well as LOOSE CHANGE PLACED IN THE LARGE MITE BOX in the Narthex of the Sanctuary.  On this very special Sunday we even suggest maybe that purple colored $5 bill as a donation in addition to change.  We encourage your participation. Thank you for previous donations of mites and material and we continue to accept any pieces of cloth or old sheets at the church office or contact [email protected] or call for pick up at 407-237-0125. Thank you!!

Disaster Relief in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
Please begin praying for open hearts and minds as to how the Trinity family can prepare to care for the needs of families we anticipate will be coming into Central Florida from the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Local government is anticipating up to 100,000 people who have lost their homes, jobs, safety and security, local network of friends and family (and so much more)... as well as their local faith communities.  The FL-GA District,  local district & circuit pastors, local school districts, and local ministry partners are working together to develop plans for how we can all work best together to meet the needs.  So stayed turned for updates.  For now, please be intentional in your prayers so that we will be ready to be answer, "Here I Am!" when the Lord calls for us to respond.

FL-GA District Disaster Response Update - South Central FL, SW FL and the Keys
In South Central FL, the devastation is great.  Many are rural farming communities still without power, communication, and water.  Many homes are mobile homes. There is much flooding that hasn't receded yet. The FL-GA District is trying to show mercy and help to these communities.  Volunteers will be needed for some time across South Central, FL, Southwest Florida, and north of Key West.  There are 2 congregations set up to receive volunteer work crews, especially tree work, and ground clean up.  Muck out crews will follow.

Southwest Florida and the Keys also had major devastation and flooding that has not receded yet, and are in desperate need of dollars, gift cards, supplies, and volunteers.  Volunteer teams are also needed to put items (shovels, flood buckets, respirators, etc.) together and get them to the Marathon and Key West, but housing is at a premium. Most church buildings fared pretty well, but need resources to help them be places of mercy in their communities.    If you wish to be on a volunteer crew, willing to work, and willing to be trained, the need is great. Contact the Florida-Georgia District Office, John Elliott, Business Manager, FL-GA District, LCMS,  407-258-5054, [email protected]

to volunteer and join in on the fun at this upcoming special Friday morning school event!

We need YOU:  Supporting New Trinity members - Connection Points
We'd like YOU to consider being a Trinity Connection Point for a new member who is now going through the Foundations class.  A Connection Point is a member who is well connected in multiple areas of Trinity ministry, who will serve as a resource and "point of connection" for a new member just completing the Foundations class.  You check in regularly with your assigned new member, pray for them, maybe worship with them from time to time, answer any questions they may have, maybe meet them for coffee once a month for a few months -- getting to know them and then sharing information on upcoming events and opportunities where they might be able to GET CONNECTED at Trinity.  If you'd like to serve in this way, please contact Chanda at [email protected] or 407-488-1919 x101.

Rebecca's Garden - Tutoring Youth and Providing a Meal
The Pasta dinner was a great success!  Thanks to all those who participated.  Read more in the recent blog post . Tutoring and serving a meal to a room full of children is a rewarding experience. The kids love the 1:1 attention and really appreciate good food!! Organized by Trinity's Ministry Team, this serving opportunity is open to the entire Trinity family. Check out upcoming dates and sign up here .  You can sign up to tutor, serve or cook and drop off food for pick up - or any combination of those things! You'll love it!

Law Enforcement or Military?
The Comfort Dog Ministry team is looking for an active or retired member of the military, AND an active or retired member of Orlando's police or sheriff's department to round out our team.  If you are interested, please contact Eric or Wendy Havens at [email protected]

Prayer Partners for our Confirmands
Jr. and Sr. Confirmation classes have begun for our youth. We meet two or three Sundays a month for lunch, class time and fellowship time. Deana Norris and Jenn Blackwood are co-teaching Jr class and Tim Norris is teaching the Sr class. There are 17 youth in these two combined classes. Praise God!  We would love to show our kids that their Trinity family loves them and is invested in them by connecting them with a Prayer Partner. A Confirmation Prayer Partner is someone who is an active member at Trinity and will pray daily for a student. You would send a note of prayer and encouragement from time to time and just get to know him/her. We will join together for lunch once or twice this year and of course look forward to First Communion and Confirmation. Please contact Jenn Blackwood [email protected]

Lunch Hosts for Confirmation Families
We also are looking for someone who would like to host lunch for the group in Fellowship Hall.   Please contact Jenn Blackwood [email protected] if you would like to be involved in confirmation prayer partner or hosting lunch.

Volunteer Opportunities
Whether you are a staff member, parent, or church member, PTL has plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in our ministry.  PTL events like our annual Fall Pumpkin Patch and Touch-A-Truck connect our school, church, and surrounding community.  These events not only raise funds to support our school, but they draw big crowds from the surrounding community to our church!  We need your help to make them happen!  If you have any questions regarding PTL volunteer opportunities or simply need information for an upcoming event, you may e-mail the PTL at [email protected].

Brass Group at Trinity!
Time to dust off those musical instruments tucked away in the closet that you haven't played for a while or just tune up if you've been playing all along. We are re-organizing and expanding a brass group to play at Trinity for special services. It will not take a huge commitment of your time and you do not have to be a expert. You just need the desire to share your gift of music. We are also looking for anyone able to play kettledrums. (Timpani) Please contact Matthew Schroeder or Eva Newshutz for more information. 321-303-7824 or [email protected]

Coming Up in March:  Touch a Truck, March 3, 2018
Trinity Lutheran School's Parent Teacher League will be hosting their annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, March 3, 2018.   We need your support by volunteering for this amazing event.   To make this year's Touch-a-Truck another success, we need to start planning now!  If you are interested in joining TAT's committee meeting, please contact [email protected].

Fifth Sunday Collection
The month of October has 5 Sundays so we will be collecting food and funds this month.  Dry/canned food collections will take place in school offices throughout the month and in church on October 29th. Financial donations to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund to help those in need can be made during worship services or dropped off at the office (please write Pastor's discretionary Fund on the memo line of your check or on your offering envelope please). The collection will be donated to the Prince of Peace Food Pantry and will benefit our local community.  Start making those BOGO purchases!
