Your Weekly News & Updates
Welcome Pastor Weerts!
While Pastor Doug is on vacation, we are blessed to have Pastor Weerts preaching at Trinity this weekend!  Thank you!

Oktoberfest!  Mark your Calendars for Friday, October 26
Join us for a fun evening at Trinity from 5:30-8:30pm with live music, great food, mini musical performances, festival games, German beer and wine and so much more. Fun for the whole family!

Invite friends with a personal invitation or by sharing our Facebook event on your own Facebook page and in any groups you belong to - it's easy, just "like" and "share" the events from Trinity's Facebook page to your own page and you can also share to any community/neighborhood groups you're connected to on Facebook! That extends our reach, and our OUTreach, significantly!!

Volunteer opportunities are a great way to serve for a portion of the evening, and then have the other portion to hang out and enjoy some wonderful fellowship.  To volunteer, please go to http://signup.com/go/kSooyuN Sponsorships are also available and much appreciated - click here to see all sponsorship opportunities! Again this year, we'll feature sponsor names in our final event program and on signage at the event as a small thank you for contributing to this Trinity community event!

Adoption and Foster Care Ministry Team
Our AFC (Adoption and Foster Care) Ministry Team is excited to offer you another opportunity to help out vulnerable children, and those who are taking care of them.  Trinity Downtown will be collecting new stuffed animals (to comfort the children during their transitions and their court dates) and gift cards to Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon, or just Visa gift cards (to help the families taking care of the foster children). We will have a bin in the Church narthex through November 4, when we will recognize Orphan Sunday during all worship services.  We invite you to join us in worship, as we learn more about children who are so close to God's heart!

If you're interested in learning more about adoption, join us for an adoption information meeting at 12:15pm Sunday, November 4 (location TBD).  Lunch and childcare will be provided.

Finally, for those who are interested in supporting families who foster or adopt, (but cannot do so themselves) we will have a meeting on Wednesday, November 7, at 6:30 pm (location TBD). We will be learning about "wrap-around care," and have some awesome ideas to share with you! Light refreshments will be provided. Thank you for your support!

Join the Comfort Dog Ministry Team
The Comfort Dog Ministry Team is looking for some agile volunteers to become handlers for Peace Comfort Dog. We are in great need of individuals who are available to serve as handlers on weekdays. To become a handler you must be approved by LCC, and then complete a weekend training in Northbrook, IL (paid for by the ministry).  To serve as a handler, you must be able to commit to one hour each week to train with Peace, and one team meeting each month, in addition to any ministry visits you've signed up for each week. If you love the Lord, enjoy spending time with dogs, and want to help share the mercy, compassion, proclamation and presence of Jesus with our community, please email Eric & Wendy Havens at [email protected] .  THANK YOU!

Orlando Tree Lighting - Community Outreach Event
We're already beginning to prepare for the Orlando Tree Lighting at Lake Eola on Friday, November 30, where Trinity will participate as a Sponsor and share our own Christmas gift with the Orlando community: TLS students will sing on the amphitheater stage and Trinity volunteers will staff multiple tents in the park with Christmas themed activities -- all of which will share a message of the true meaning of Christmas, "It's still all about Jesus."  In order to prepare for upcoming activities we have a few volunteer projects we need your help with:

Seamstresses/Tailors Needed for Nativity Costumes
Due to gifted hands and generous contributions over many years, Trinity Downtown has accumulated quite a few Nativity themed costumes, which are housed in the church basement. However, many of these costumes are in need of some repair and hemming so that they can be used by a wider cross section of people, both in our photo booth at the Lake Eola Tree Lighting Event, November 30th, 5:00-8:00 p.m., and in our Children's Christmas Eve worship service on December 24 at 3:00 p.m. We also have some rich looking fabric remnants that we'd like to see sewn into simple  'stole' type garments which could be draped over more plain gowns allowing for a greater variety of costumes and expediting costume changes in our photo booth. Finally, we have a pattern which would allow old baseball hats to be turned into permanent Biblical headgear which dispenses with tying fabric pieces to children's heads and hoping that they stay in place for the duration of the program/service! If you would enjoy serving through sewing any of these items, please contact [email protected] for supplies. Ideally we would like to have these costumes completed by Friday, November 16th.  Thank you!

Crafters/Painters Needed for Ornament Production
Last year members of the Trinity family guided children from our community in putting together a lovely keepsake Christmas Ornament at our tents at Lake Eola for the Tree Lighting Event. This year we will be offering a choice of ornaments, the design from last year, and a second new "fingerpainted" ornament. We need painters to to the prep work for these ornaments, painting a solid background on plastic ornament discs to prepare them for children to finger paint a picture of baby Jesus. This is an excellent project to take home with you and bring back when you are done. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in helping to paint some of these ornaments. Our deadline for completing this project is Friday, November 16th. Thank you!

Please let us know!
Please let your Trinity family know of any scheduled surgery or hospital stay.  In addition to scheduled procedures, please give the church office a call to let us know about extended illness, unplanned hospital stays, or even the birth of a child.  You can call the office at any time and leave a message-no need to wait until business hours (407-488-1919 x101). During business hours, that information can then be forwarded to the appropriate caregivers. For an emergency that requires the care of a Pastor after hours or over the weekend call or text us at 407-490-7339 and leave a message. We'll get back to you ASAP. We want to be sure to know when you need us-whether to pray with you before a scheduled procedure, sit with you during a loved one's procedure, pray for you while you recover, visit you in the hospital/at home or to share praise and thanksgiving prayers for good news/results. Just let us know.  Thank you.

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to [email protected] . While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.
