Thank You from Pastor Doug

Trinity,

Thank you for the very generous and well suited selection of gifts with which you blessed Desiree and me for Pastor Appreciation month. It is truly a pleasure serving at Trinity - we love each and ever one of you! May God Almighty bless our efforts as we go to make disciples throughout Orlando and Central Florida.

Special Session of GriefShare

If you have suffered the loss of a spouse, parent, child, or close friend, the holidays are especially difficult to handle the first year, the second year, or even longer. To anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one and is walking through this journey of grief, the weekly Tuesday afternoon GriefShare group would like to extend an invitation to their annual event entitled "Surviving the Holidays." This special session includes viewing a video entitled "Surviving the Holidays" and is an opportunity for Pastor Kallesen to be present and discuss grieving. Coffee, tea, water, and some snacks will be provided.

This special session will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 15, from 1pm-3pm.

If you have additional questions or are planning to attend, please RSVP by November 8 by contacting the church office (407-488-1919 or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com).

November OWLS Meeting

The next OWLS meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at 12:30pm at The Italian House. This will be a wonderful time of food and fellowship and we hope to see you there!

Please confirm your attendance no later than Monday, November 14, by contacting Audrey Gordon at 407-897-1418. If you have questions, please reach out to Audrey.

Thanksgiving Luncheon

Our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 11:30am. Please note that we will only have one 10am service due to this event.

The luncheon will be sponsored by Darlene's group and the Fellowship/Outreach Ministry Team. Rich Poole will be providing the meat and side dishes. The congregation is asked to provide desserts:

A-G: Pies

H-O: Cakes/Cupcakes

P-Z: Cookies

Please join us for food, fun and fellowship. After lunch, we will have a taste of Family Fun Night with the main attraction of Bingo. Card games and other board games will be available as well. We will be raffling off a gift basket: "A Very Merry Disney Christmas!" So bring your dollars to play!

A free will offering will be provided to offset the operating costs and help with the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. Please direct any questions to the church office.

New Member Sunday

We are thrilled to welcome those who have recently joined our Trinity family!

If you have recently joined Trinity and would like to be included in this welcome and you have not heard from the church office, please contact TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or by calling 407-488-1919.

The welcome will be coordinated with our Thanksgiving luncheon, so please plan to stay after the service for food and fellowship!

Trinity Shares Christmas

"Trinity Shares Christmas" is our annual Christmas outreach in partnership with Prison Fellowship Ministries, providing Christmas toys and food for children who have an incarcerated parent. An Angel Tree with tags will be up in the narthex beginning this weekend. Simply take a tag, purchase what is on the tag, and return the gift to Trinity unwrapped by December 4th. Gifts should be returned to

the box in the Narthex during worship or to the front office during the week. Please make sure to attach the tag or a note to the gift so we know to which family to give the gift.

An online option also exists for choosing tags so those worshiping from home can easily participate. Please use the following link to choose a tag online:

https://bit.ly/TrinityGives2022

Each gift should be no more than $25. If you are unable to shop but want to donate funds, please contact Alina directly to arrange that. Volunteers will then collect and deliver these Christmas blessings to local families. We are so grateful for your participation to reach out to these wonderful kids on behalf of their incarcerated parents.

If you would like to volunteer to call families, sort, or deliver gifts, we need your help! Please reach out to Alina Davis at alinad@bellsouth.net or 407-247-9703 to volunteer or ask questions.

Operation Christmas Child

It's that time of year again! Trinity Downtown and the families of the CDC are invited to pack a shoebox for the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child ministry. Operation Christmas Child delivers the good news of Jesus Christ to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes. Each box packed full of quality toys, school supplies, and personal care items becomes a tangible expression of God's immense love for the child.

You can pack a shoebox of your own or pick up a free shoebox from the narthex or CDC front desk while supplies last. Make sure to take a brochure which includes suggestions on what to pack as well as a shipping label. Most importantly, please pray for the Operation Christmas Child ministry and the child who will receive the shoebox you lovingly pack.

Please return packed and labeled shoeboxes to the collection boxes at the CDC or Trinity Church narthex no later than Sunday, November 13. Packed shoeboxes may also be dropped off between November 14-21 at the Church on the Drive at 1914 Edgewater Drive in Orlando.

Visit the link below for additional information or to find additional shoebox drop-off locations:

Please direct any questions to the OCC project leader, Lynn Hogan at lynnhogan@eearthlink.net

IMPACKS

"Impacks" (ie: backpacks making an impact) is a project putting together backpacks with a few personal items for children who are living in transition between foster homes or homeless shelter living. It ensures that each child has something of his/her very own to hold what little belongings he/she may have to carry from location to location. On any night there can be over 100 children sleeping at the Coalition for Homeless alone. It changes nightly. We have been told several times that our backpacks and gifts would be the only items these children would receive for Christmas.

This project is created and organized by Ashely Marshall of our CDC family. The CDC family of Trinity has been participating in IMPACKS for a several years now, and we are jumping on board to support this very real need in our community, to send a little extra love to children in need. Our church family goal this year is to provide and fill 30 backpacks for Elementary age children. The backpacks will be delivered in December so these children will have something for Christmas. The deadline to bring completed backpacks to the Narthex is November 27, 2022, but feel free to start bringing them in any time after November 5, 2022.

For these backpacks, please bring Elementary Age appropriate themed backpacks with a pack each of appropriate size socks and underwear, a toothbrush and toothpaste, an appropriate book, and one toy for an elementary school age child.

Please contact the church office with questions by emailing TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or by calling 407-488-1919.
