Our Mission
Trinity's mission is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through ministries which strengthen and equip people for Christian witness and service in downtown, metropolitan Orlando and the world.

Trinity Weekly News
Bring in Your Angel Tree Items
Volunteers filled the Angel Tree food bags this week and they're almost ready for delivery. We're missing about nine items that were on the tree. If that's you, please bring them in this weekend!! THANK YOU!

Food and Funds on the Fifth Sunday
December has five Sundays so we'll be collecting canned and dry goods to be donated to a local shelter as well as funds for the Pastor's Discretionary Fund, on the weekend of Dec 28/29. Start collecting now! Thank you!
Combined Worship and Lunch
This past Sunday the Trinity family enjoyed a full church and joyous singing as we gave thanks to God for His many blessings. This was followed by a delicious potluck dinner highlighted by Chef Poole's yummy turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy. We listed some of the things we are thankful for on turkey cut-outs and placed them on the Thanksgiving tree. Children enjoyed a table of crafts, helped by the youth (some of whom were spotted wearing their own colorful turkey masks). Many also addressed Thanksgiving cards to be sent to our shut-in members. It was a great day of fellowship and thanksgiving. Thanks be to God!

Sunday School PARENTS - schedule
Sunday School will meet this weekend on Dec 1. All grades will meet in the second loggia classroom. We will all be working on a service craft project of making Christmas cards for the women attending the Women’s Christmas Dinner. Thank you and have a blessed Thanksgiving. --From your Children’s Sunday School Teachers

HOPE - Wednesday Advent Devotions
Wednesday Advent Devotions this year are on HOPE
“HOPE in the cradle, HOPE on the cross, and HOPE wearing the crown.”

Trinity’s Advent Star
We have some sad news... this year Trinity isn’t able to install the star on top of Trinity’s bell tower. Due to the condition of tower roof and the stairs to climb the tower, we’ve determined that it just isn’t safe to continue. Trinity’s leadership will continue to look into repairs for the tower and future plans for the star.

Call Committee Formation
Trinity has started the process to call a DCE or Deaconess. The next step is to form a call committee that will be responsible for researching the candidates for the position and making a recommendation to the congregation on which candidate best fits our needs. According to Trinity's bylaws the call committee consists of the Vice President (chair), the Senior Pastor, the President, the Senior Elder and one or more members at large from the congregation. Ideally we would like to have four or five members of the congregation on the call committee.

Call committee members must be Trinity members in good standing and must be able to attend 2-3 meetings per month during the call process which could last six months or more. All interested candidates should email Trinity's Vice President Gary Harris at gaharris5252@gmail.com ; and copy President Tom Finger at tfinger888@aol.com

Foundations Class
Let’s get this on your calendar before the holidays!! For all new incoming members and new full time Trinity staff, please join us for the upcoming Foundations Class. This is your introduction to who we are at Trinity! Pastor Doug will take you through an introduction to your Christian faith, the Lutheran Church, the basics of the Catechism, discipleship, studying your Bible and sharing your faith. It’s also a great way to meet others fairly new to Trinity and build some new relationships. This series will be held on Saturdays from 4:00-5:30 pm from January 11 through February 29. Please contact Chanda to sign up, 407-488-1919 x101, or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com

Movie recommendation: Paul, Apostle of Christ
This movie has been recommended as a fantastic wrap-up for this first book of the IMMERSE series. Trinity volunteers are looking into the possibility of having a movie night here at Trinity for all IMMERSE groups to attend. If you’re interested in a movie night at Trinity , please let Darlene know at darlene.rehbein.sabin@gmail.com
IMMERSE- Beginnings
Immerse: Beginnings is the second of six volumes for use in Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience. Beginnings takes the reader on a new and unique journey through the first five books of the Bible, Genesis through Deuteronomy: the Pentateuch. In Beginnings readers follow the ancient nation of Israel from its earliest ancestors to the moment it is poised to enter the land God promised them. As God’s covenant community follows the instructions laid out in the Pentateuch, they not only receive God’s blessings but also are uniquely positioned to bring renewal and healing to the world and to show all people the true character and nature of God. Readings/groups start on January 5

**Groups

**Book order DEADLINE:  Trinity will make one bulk order to get the bulk discount. ($10 instead of $13.50) Payment can be made when you pick up your book. Please call/email in your order request for yourself or for your whole group by Sunday, December 1 to TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or 407-488-1919 x101

Saturday 6pm Worship Family
What would you think about starting a 4:30pm small group meeting before worship at 6pm on Saturdays? It could be an IMMERSE series or an alternative Bible Study choice. It would give the Saturday evening worship family a consistent small group opportunity that fits your schedule and time of fellowship with others. Let us know what you think. Contact Chanda at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or 407-488-1919 x101
Trinity’s GriefShare Support Group begins February 6
If you are grieving the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend , you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. Grief Share support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. Several Trinity members will be receiving training in January to lead a Grief Share group here at Trinity. The group will meet on campus on Thursday afternoons and begins on February 6. Please share with others who may need to hear about this. These groups are open to all. To learn more visit https://www.griefshare.org/ . Questions? Contact Trinity’s Ministry & Communications Coordinator, Chanda, at 407-488-1919 x101 or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com

Participants will gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life. It is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare meets weekly for 13 weeks. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:
  • Video seminar with experts Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video.
  • Support group discussion with focus After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.
  • Personal study and reflection During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

Who should come … who should not
GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend. We understand that there are other losses in life that create feelings of grief. You might be experiencing a job loss, a divorce, estrangement from a child, or the loss of friends because of a move. This grief is real, but it is not the kind of grief discussed in GriefShare sessions. We encourage you to ask a pastor, counselor, or church leader for help in finding resources that will be of specific help in your situation.

Divorce Care Support Group?
Trinity is on the road to beginning its first GriefShare support group, and moving forward we would like to host additional support groups to meet the needs of our members and the community. Divorce is widespread in the world today and has a significant impact on the families going through the recovery process. If you have a heart for serving in some way to support those recovering from divorce, please contact Trinity’s Ministry & Communications Coordinator, Chanda, at 407-488-1919 x101 or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com

Recurring Announcements & Invitations

Adoption and Foster Care Support
We know that we, as believers, are called to love and care for children in need, and there are plenty of opportunities to directly or indirectly be a blessing, even if you are not called to foster or adopt within your own family. We have a group of Trinity members who have a passion for caring for children who come from hard places… all over the world and right here in our community. They would love to hear from you and include you in upcoming opportunities to serve. Please respond to our online survey to let us know how you’d like to get involved. Everyone can do something. https://forms.gle/f98XEm1EYm9g48q26  Thank you.

Worn Out Flags
A flag that is torn, tattered, faded or dirty should be removed and disposed of properly. According to the U.S. Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, also known as the Flag Code, “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” If you have a worn out flag that needs to be retired, you may turn it in to the church office. We’ll pass it on to a member of Operation Barnabas who will see to it that it is properly retired.

Choir meets Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m. Please join us!
Choir has started and there are plenty of seats available for new members to join us. No one is turned away. Yes, you can sing! Choir meets Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the church balcony. It's okay if you have to miss some Wednesday rehearsals or Sunday services. We typically sing three Sundays a month, including two 11:00 a.m. services and one 8:00 a.m. service. Please come join us!

You're Invited to Make A More Joyful Noise!
"Make A More Joyful Noise!" is open to everyone that wants to make a More Joyful Noise! We sing a few times each year , and ask that you join us for rehearsal the Wednesday before the Sunday we sing, or even the morning that we sing. This is for anyone that wants to "try out" choir, even if for only one Sunday, or for those that want to share the joy of Jesus Christ through music. Faith, fun and fellowship are abundant with Make A More Joyful Noise! Please come join us!

Please let us know!
Please let your Trinity family know of any scheduled surgery or hospital stay. In addition to scheduled procedures, please give the church office a call to let us know about extended illness, unplanned hospital stays, or even the birth of a child. You can call the office at any time and leave a message-no need to wait until business hours (407-488-1919 x101). During business hours, that information can then be forwarded to the appropriate caregivers. We'll get back to you ASAP. We want to be sure to know when you need us - whether to pray with you before a scheduled procedure, sit with you during a loved one's procedure, pray for you while you recover, visit you in the hospital/at home or to share praise and thanksgiving prayers for good news/results. Just let us know. Thank you.

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can’t wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com . While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can’t wait until Sunday. Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity’s regular printed prayer list for the congregation. All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.
