Your Weekly News & Updates
Trinity Voters' Assembly, Monday, Dec 10
Please join your Trinity Leaders on Monday evening December 10 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary.

Church Reporting
This will be a time for reports and discussion on the State of the Parish, School Board reporting, Financial Health of the Parish, and Leadership Council Highlights.

Past Meeting Minutes
Official and draft minutes from past meeting are posted on the Trinity Downtown website, under Members Resources as Official Reports.  We will be seeking approval of the draft minutes from the Regular June 25th, 2018 and Special July 29th, 2018 Voters' Assemblies.

School Board President Election
Please also consider the nomination of Bonnie Roby to serve in the role of President of the School Board. In late September, our elected School Board President, Bev Middleton, accepted the position as Acting K-8 Executive Director through the end of the school year.  Bonnie has led school board activities since that time and the Leadership Council would like to make it official through a vote of the congregation. Bonnie would serve through the duration of Bev's original appointment of June 30, 2019. Both Bev and Bonnie bring a wealth of experience and a passion and love for the Christian education that are provided at Trinity.

Nominations
As per our By-Laws, the congregation of Trinity may recommend qualified candidates to the President of the congregation for consideration. In the event that further nominations are received, the Leadership Council may select one or more nominees for consideration at the voter's assembly on December 10. Please affirm that any individual nominated is aware of and accepting of being nominated to serve as President of the School Board.

LWML Fall Project - Soap Collection
LWML's Fall project for World Relief is a collection of individually boxed bath soaps (no hotel soap). There will be a wash tub with a scrub board in the Narthex starting Saturday, November 17 and will continue until January 2, 2019. This is part of our mission outreach to third world countries where this soap is a precious commodity.

Facebook Users - You Are Missionaries on Facebook
In the next few days multiple event posts representing our Advent, Longest Night, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve worship services are going up on Trinity's Facebook page, as well as some interactive posts that ask for you to share a comment. If you're on Facebook, please help us reach others by sharing those events on your own page, and by commenting on Trinity's page for the interactive posts. The more those events are shared, the more likely someone outside our Trinity family will see an invitation to worship and find their way one step closer to Jesus. The more interaction we get on interactive posts, the more Facebook recognizes our posts as something that should be shared more often. This really helps us to extend our reach beyond our own Trinity Family.  If you have questions, contact Chanda at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or 407-488-1919 x101. Thank you.

Trinity Shares Christmas - Help Needed!
The gifts and food are sorted and bagged! However, to make the Angel Tree program a complete success, we need help delivering the bags to the families.  The addresses are in zip codes 32812 (2), 32808, 32839, and 32817. If you can make one (or two) deliveries in the next week, please contact Glenda for details at whitemice@bellsouth.net.

Peace Comfort Dog
Peace will turn 2 on Christmas Day!  Since Jesus' birthday is so much more important, we will celebrate Peace's birthday each year on her vesting day, July 1st.

Project Christmas - Trinity Lutheran School's K-8 students help the homeless
On Tuesday, December 18, Trinity's K-8 students are going to walk around Lake Eola between 8:30-10:00 am to pass out about 100 care packages to the homeless in downtown Orlando. They would also like to add $5 gift cards to each care package, just to make their holidays a little brighter? Would you like to help?

TLS would love to have donations, if possible, of $5 gift cards to fast food restaurants or local downtown establishments (Subway, McDonald's, 7-11, Publix, etc.), knit caps and mittens, men's socks, travel Kleenex, toothbrushes and paste, band aids, lotions, small combs, travel wet wipes and Chapstick. All items must be new. If you would like to donate cash, we can collect it and purchase those local gift cards. We will be assembling the packages on Monday, Dec. 17, so if you would like to donate please drop off your items by Friday, Dec. 14. You can drop off in the K-8 office at Trinity Downtown. THANK YOU!

Walk for Life with Choices
The annual Walk for Life will take place, April 6th, 2019 at Blue Jacket Park in Baldwin Park. Join hundreds walking to raise money to save lives and protect women & families!  Anyone interesting in starting a team from Trinity?? Let the church office know.

TOUCH-A-TRUCK, March 9
Touch-A-Truck is the school's largest fundraiser and is a fun event for Trinity and the community. This event provides children (and children at heart) the opportunity to touch and experience all types of trucks ranging from fire trucks to dump trucks.  This fun event also includes food vendors, entertainment, and other family-friendly activities.

Who organizes Touch-a-Truck?
  • The Parent Teacher League organizes the event, and we also need volunteer support.
  • K-8 Parents can earn P.R.I.C.E. hours by volunteering to help plan the event and by volunteering on the day of the event. There are also plenty of tasks that parents with younger children and children that attend the CDC can help with on the day of the event.
  • High School students can volunteer during the Touch-A-Truck event to earn community service hours.
  • Trinity students can also volunteer on the day of the event. This is a great way for our students to show Viking Pride and support our school.
  • If you are not able to volunteer, share this volunteer opportunity with your neighbors, family members, friends, and co-workers.
How can you help?

You can volunteer by calling and sending emails to truck companies to reserve and confirm trucks for the event; organizing the set-up and layout of trucks, vendors, and other entertainment; marketing and advertising the event to the public; securing vendors and entertainment; and assisting on the day of the event. If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to PTL@trinitydowntown.com.

Christian Yoga!
You're welcome to join us on first and third Mondays (and if we have enough participants, we could add second and fourth Mondays too) for a $5 Christian Yoga class at 6:30pm in Fellowship Hall. The class needs a minimum number in attendance to be held at such a discounted rate, so please email Beth at baschu4@bellsouth.net to confirm you're coming. Class starts at 6:30 pm, please arrive by 6:20 pm. Thank you! Bring with you an exercise mat (and block if you have), $5, comfy clothes, a smile, and enthusiasm!

Please let us know!
Please let your Trinity family know of any scheduled surgery or hospital stay.  In addition to scheduled procedures, please give the church office a call to let us know about extended illness, unplanned hospital stays, or even the birth of a child. You can call the office at any time and leave a message-no need to wait until business hours (407-488-1919 x101). During business hours, that information can then be forwarded to the appropriate caregivers.  For an emergency that requires the care of a Pastor after hours or over the weekend call or text us at 407-490-7339 and leave a message. We'll get back to you ASAP. We want to be sure to know when you need us-whether to pray with you before a scheduled procedure, sit with you during a loved one's procedure, pray for you while you recover, visit you in the hospital/at home or to share praise and thanksgiving prayers for good news/results. Just let us know. Thank you.

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com.  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.
