A fantastic group of six seventh and eighth grade youth and their families, plus the confirmation teaching team, met in the Fellowship Hall for a lunch of BBQ beef, interactive games, and an introduction by Pastor Doug and Tim Norris to this year’s Confirmation curriculum. Parental involvement will be a critical component of this year’s Confirmation ministry where youth and family members will gather together for a meal, watch a subject related video, experience interactive teaching of Bible truths through Bible study and the Small Catechism, then break into separate parent and youth groups to discuss the life application questions tied into each lesson. This week’s gathering was the introduction to this coming year and regular classes begin next Sunday at 12:30.

This year there will be an expectation that lessons missed here on campus will be made up online at home with a follow up accountability meeting held later with either Tim or Pastor Doug to ensure confirmation families have all the resources and support needed to confidently complete all lessons.  This makes for a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow together as a family as well as alongside your church family.

How can you be a support to Trinity’s Confirmation students, families and instructors?

  1. We are seeking individuals or families who would be willing to bless these youth and families with a meal served before the bi-weekly Confirmation classes. Simple meals are the best… we expect about 15 people to be eating together each week. There are 20 meetings this year and 3 are already covered. Please contact jmalenke@trinitydowntown.com if you would like to provide a meal (or two) this year. Thank you!
  2. Confirmation Prayer Partners – if you’re a prayer warrior and can commit to regularly praying for one assigned Confirmation student, their family and instructors throughout this instruction year, please contact Jenn Blackwood at mom23girls@cfl.rr.com for your assignment!  Thank you.

In addition to Confirmation instruction, there are opportunities for Christian education for all ages with 4’s through fifth grade studying Discipleship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am (opening in the Kindergarten room of Heritage Hall), and middle school and high school students enjoying video series and study at the same time each Sunday, in the church basement youth room (also known as “Devos and Donuts”).  (And the adults meet in in Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am too — all are welcome!)
