Mission and Purpose

Who We Are

Trinity is a church on a mission; “Bringing people one step closer to Jesus.”  We’ve been doing it here in Downtown Orlando, since 1919.  As Orlando grew, so did Trinity… growing the church, adding worship services & outreach opportunities, then launching our first school program in 1953 with Kindergarten and first grade, growing to sixth grade before 1960, and to eighth grade in the early ‘70s.  We expanded the property and facilities further in order to develop Early Childhood programs and opened our Child Development Center in 1983. The need for quality Christian childcare & education in Downtown Orlando is huge, and we’ve just recently completed the newest addition to the campus, the New Century Center, which now houses the entire Child Development Center under one roof, and includes space for additional outreach opportunities just waiting to be developed!

The ministries of Trinity Lutheran Church & School, known collectively as Trinity Downtown, have a far reaching impact in our community. We are privileged to be able to care for and educate nearly 400 children from six weeks old through eighth grade in our Trinity Lutheran School programs (CDC and K-8), and we gather together about that same number of families in worship each weekend from all over the Orlando area.

How We Grow and Serve Together

We’re just a group of imperfect people who use our gifts and abilities – at church and at home – to carry on the Gospel ministry of Jesus Christ.  We’re obviously not just a “Sunday morning church.” We’re dedicated to ministry seven days a week, for all ages, in many different ways, on and off our campus. With 96 years of history behind us, Trinity is excited to begin a second century of sharing Jesus with those around us… bringing people of all ages and cultures “one step closer to Jesus.”
